Executives of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, in North Dayi Constituency in Volta Region, have terminated the appointments of caterers in the area under the Ghana School Feeding Programme.
The termination was to take effect from January 10, in a letter dated January 9, 2017 and signed by the party’s constituency organizer, Emmanuel Amefianuame.
The letter directed the North Dayi District Director of Education to inform all the caterers under the programme to cease cooking for the pupils in the various basic schools.
The letter which was copied to the heads of 16 basic schools in the constituency added: “This is to enable the government re-organize the programme in order to ensure greater efficiency in its administration.
“Caterers who may still be interested are to re-apply for consideration.”
Mr. Amefianuame told 3News that “There have been some allegations against the caterers,” although, he could not say what those allegations are.
It however remained unclear what arrangements have been put in place to provide food for the pupils during the period of the reorganization exercise or under what authority the party took the decision to sack the caterers.
