A Lebanese supervisor of Warmako Fast Foods, Jihad Chaaban, has been remanded in police custody by an Accra Magistrate Court over assault.
Chaaban was reported to have assaulted a female Ghanaian employee of the restaurant chain, by dipping her face in blended pepper.
The presiding magistrate, Victoria Ghansah, gave the ruling after the prosecution had argued that the accused person and his company have started interfering with the case.
According to the prosecutor, the company has threatened to dismiss staff members who had been invited by the police to serve as witnesses in the case.
He also insisted that the remand was necessary, because the police could vouch for the security of the accused person.
Chaaban however pleaded not guilty to three charges of causing harm, assault, and offensive conduct.
