A meeting called by the committee set up by the National Democratic Congress, NDC, to identify causes of its electoral defeat at the 2016 general elections, ended in confusion and free for all fight on Sunday.

The meeting, held with members of the party at the Tamale Sports Stadium in the Northern Region, was called to hear from members of the party in the region the likely causes of the party’s defeat.

According to Daily Guide, some supporters and executives of the party had accused the Regional Chairman of the party, Sofo Azorka, of contributing to the party’s defeat by keeping motorbikes, money and other materials meant for the 2016 campaign.

These materials, they allege are still in his custody instead of sharing them to the constituencies.

A visibly angry Azorka, reportedly dared members who accused him of keeping the materials leading to hot exchange of words. This eventually led to throwing of chairs and other objects.

At the meeting were some NDC heavyweights such as the former Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Hajia Hawawu Boya Gariba, former District Chief Executive, DCE, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, a member of the Committee; National Research Officer of the party, Abu Razak and Tamale Metro Health Insurance Manager, Abdul Salam.

The Chairman of the fact finding committee, Dr Kwesi Botchwey, was conspicuously absent.
