President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered the suspension of the confirmation of the Municipal Chief Executive, MCE, nominee for Bawku in the Upper East Region, Amadu Moqtar Bagaya, indefinitely.

Though no reason was given for the suspension, the Presiding Member of the Bawku Municipal Assembly, Hon David Adoliba, in a letter dated May 13, confirmed that the special meeting for Bagaya’s confirmation slated for May 17 has been put off on the strength of the suspension order.

The letter reads in part: “This office has received instructions from the Upper East Regional Minister upon a directive from the office of the President to Suspend the Special Meeting of the Assembly slated for Wednesday 17th May 2017 to confirm the President’s nominee for the position of the Bawku Municipal Chief Executive. Further instructions on the meeting will be communicated to you in due course”
