The Ghana Police Service has arrested two persons alleged to be luring Ghanaians to subscribe to the Ponzi scheme, MMM.
The arrests, made by the Tema Community One police over the weekend, was a result of the directive from the Bank of Ghana warning the public against patronizing the scheme that has been discredited in several countries, including Nigeria.
Though the police is yet to give any official update on the arrest, a victim of the scheme, who spoke Citi Business News, said he decided to alert the police largely due to the public information on the illegality of MMM’s operations in Ghana.
“The gentlemen who approached my friend and I were not convincing in their product offering so I became suspicious and asked my friend whom I was with to ignore them. It was also because I had heard of the business in the news cautioning the public to be weary of the scheme,” he explained.
