Captain Mahama promoted, to be given state burial




Even in death, murdered Army officer, Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama, has continued to attract honour, as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has given him a posthumous promotion to the rank of Major.

The new rank takes effect from May 29th, 2017, the day he was murdered

The President, who announced this during a condolence visit to the family and children of the slain officer, also disclosed that he has ordered that Major Mahama be given a state burial.

The President also announced a GHc500,000 memorial trust fund to support the Widow and her Children, with the board of trustees for the fund to be chaired by the Minister for Defence, Dominic Nitiwul.

Aside the trust fund, the President promised that a National Monument will be built and named after Major Mahama to serve as a memorial in his honour.

Speaking further during the visit, President Akufo-Addo disclosed that he has instructed the Minister of Interior to ensure that all those who had a hand in the death of the officer be brought to justice.
